Dear Brethren,
MEDITATION
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all
perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
Ephesians 6:18
OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION
1. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit
a) Prayer was very much a part of Paul’s life
b) He was a man of prayer indeed!
c) In all his letters, prayer would be mentioned
2. Praying always
a) Prayer was practised “always”
b) This is well-stated in this text written by David
16 As for me, I will call upon God,
And the Lord shall save me.
17 Evening and morning and at noon
I will pray, and cry aloud,
And He shall hear my voice. Psalm 55:16-17
i) Prayer is calling upon God
ii) With a great sense of urgency
iii) David found himself praying “evening and morning and at noon”
3. Praying always… with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit
a) All prayer
i) Praise
ii) Petition
iii) Intercession
b) Supplication
i) Humbly
ii) Earnestly
4. In the Spirit
a) Moved by the Spirit of God
b) Inspired by the Spirit of God
5. Being watchful to this end
a) Being prayerful must be matched by being watchful
b) “Watch and Pray” was taught by the Lord Jesus Matthew 26:41a
6. With all perseverance and supplication for all the saints
a) Prayer requires perseverance

i) Prayers are not meant for ourselves alone
